Complaints & Breaches of The Code Of Practice

 

When an international student has a complaint in relation to a breach of the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students, Computer Power has a process (displayed on the Computer Power notice board andincluded in your student information at registration) to work through the complaint internally.


 

External Grievance Procedure

 

If you feel your concerns have not been resolved by Computer Power’s internal complaint process, the complaint can be taken to the International Education Appeal Authority (who enforce the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students).

Conditions of Acceptance

 

On satisfactorily completing the enrolment procedure and meeting the entry requirements, International Students will be accepted in writing. If your application can be accepted conditionally we will do so and issue a ‘Letter of Offer’ to assist you with your student VISA application. Once all of the conditions have been met, we will issue a confirming ‘Letter of Acceptance’ stating your enrolment has been processed and unconditionally accepted.


 

Immigration

 

Full details of immigration requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available from Immigration New Zealand, and can be viewed on their website at www.immigration.govt.nz.


 

Eligibility for Health Services

 

Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at www.moh.govt.nz.


 

Accident Insurance

 

The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents, and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website at www.acc.co.nz.


 

Medical and Travel Insurance

 

International students (including group students) must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance.


 

Accommodation

 

Computer Power is committed to ensuring that the accommodation arranged as part of your program is of the highest quality and that it provides a safe environment for your stay in New Zealand. For assistance with accommodation please see the Student Services Department at Computer Power. Student Services are open Monday to Friday during normal business hours. Student Services will be able to provide assistance with all matters relating to accommodation required under the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. Computer Power will not provide accommodation services but will do so via arrangements with accredited Accommodation Agents who adhere to the requirements of the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.

International students requiring assistance in sourcing accommodation must identify this at the time their enrolment application is accepted. Payment for accommodation must take place at the same time as fee payment.

Accommodation packages are available in prepaid ‘blocks’ of four weeks minimum only. Should a student source alternative accommodation within a prepaid accommodation ‘block,’ no refund of accommodation costs will be made.


 

Support at the Institute

 

Computer Power has a designated Pastoral Care Manager who can help you in adjusting to life in New Zealand, orientation, academic progress, complaints, welfare and accommodation. You can arrange to contact the Pastoral Care Manager at any time during your study.
