| Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) / Current Competency
| It is the policy of Computer Power Institute to give appropriate recognition to the prior learning of students where they have no formal certification or qualification attesting to their skills.
The student must submit an application for RPL to the Campus Coordinator upon arrival in New Zealand. The application must include evidence that the student’s level of knowledge and skill equates to what would have been obtained had they formally completed the module or recognised qualification. Evidence may include a file of the applicant’s work demonstrating their abilities, the evidence of an appropriately qualified referee. To assist in their decision making regarding the relevance of the student’s skills and knowledge to the curriculum the Campus Coordinator may additionally ask the student to undertake a written, practical or oral test or to participate in a panel interview. Computer Power is able to provide ‘challenge’ assessments for students who cannot provide convincing evidence of their competence. On completion of a ‘challenge’ assessment that meets the requirement of a module, the student can be exempted from that module.

| Credit Transfer
| When you believe you have competency in a specific module from previous study, you should provide the Campus Coordinator with a copy of your Academic transcript of prior learning with course descriptions. Without this evidence, Computer Power will be unable to recognise this competency and you will be required to undertake the module study. Where there is a direct link between the qualifications, credit transfer may be approved. In instances where credit transfer is approved you will be exempt from the Computer Power course content, ‘Exempt’ will feature on your transcript. You will qualify for the Computer Power qualification provided you meet the other course requirements.
Please note: In instances where the student applying for RPL/RCC or Credit Transfer is international and enrolling from overseas, applications will not be considered or processed until such time as the student has arrived in New Zealand. Applications for RPL/RCC or Credit Transfer will not be processed remotely. Applications must be received within the first eight days of study.
