What is e-Marketing?
E-Marketing or Electronic Marketing is any form of
advertising and promotion involving web, email, mobile
phone (SMS) or “new media” marketing resources.
E-marketers generally have a thorough understanding
of web site functionality, search engines, website
design, navigation and metrics and can translate
marketing ideas for use in these mediums.
What does an e-Marketer
Support person do?
E-Marketing Support people can assist in the
development and implementation of marketing
communication initiatives involved in maintaining a
company website or in the development of banner
advertising or email campaigns in collaboration with
Web Designers or design agencies.
E-marketers can also be heavily involved in the
development and maintenance of databases, are
competent in spreadsheets and in the use of mailing
list filtering tools, and understand search engine
optimisation methodologies. They also act as a
supporting role to the marketing and sales teams in
preparing presentations, documents and other sales or
marketing collateral.
The core skills required to become an e-Marketer
include attention to detail and a talent for copywriting
and design as well as high-level knowledge about how
web sites work. Typically e-Marketers know how to use
some of the more popular graphic and Internet tools
including Dreamweaver, Flash, Adobe Photoshop and
Adobe ImageReady. Further qualifications in marketing
may also be required for advanced e-marketing roles. |
